Boots for all your holiday festivities

Boots are good for spicing up an outfit all year long, but when it gets chilly out they definitely come in handy. Sure, your favorite pair of pumps may look good with your outfit, but they might not be great in the snow. I have pulled some different options for different holiday occasions. These are my personal favorites!

Timberland Jayne Waterproof Hiking Bootie, Ugg Quincy Boot, Naturalizer Varuna 2 Waterproof Lace-up Bootie

These are some different lace up bootie options. If you’re looking for a boot with good traction, Timberland is perfect. They are also waterproof! The Ugg Quincy Boot is a more stylish and warm alternative. If you’re into height, the Naturalizer Varuna 2 bootie has a little heel that offers much more traction that a regular high heel. The sherpa lining also adds more comfort and warm.

Blondo Noa Waterproof Bootie, Vince Camuto Benedie Pointed Toe Bootie, Steve Madden Hattie Bootie

This next set of booties can be worn on date nights or to holiday parties. They are classy and unique, and keep your feet dry! Animal print is very trendy, and these Blondo Noa booties are even waterproof. Red is also a staple during the holidays. These Vince Camuto boots are a classy option that can be worn with jeans or a dress. The last pair of boots are more edgy and unique. These can also be worn either way, and they are a stylish and fun change from regular pumps.

Louise Et Cie Valtina Chelsea Boot, Marc Fisher Ltd Yale Chelsea Boot, Hunter Original Refined Quilted Gloss Chelsea Waterproof Boot

Chelsea boots are a personal favorite of mine. They come in a wide variety, and I feel like they work for any occasion. There is the option of heel height and material so you can find exactly what you’re looking for. The first boot on the left is a classic chelsea boot, but some flare is added with the pearls. Pearls have been a major trend this year. The second pair is also classic, but the material is suede rather than leather. The last pair of boots are a totally different material because they are waterproof rain boots. Chelsea boots are perfect for any occasion because they can be dressed up or down, and they can fit many different styles.

Layers, lots and lots of layers.

Dressing stylish while staying warm can be quite the challenge. The key to staying warm is to layer your pieces! Start with a base, and build your way up until you are nice and cozy. There are many different ways to build a warm outfit, but lets start with the basics.

Basics can include anything from plain tank tops to wool long johns. It just depends on the level of warmth, and what you have in your closet. A base to an outfit may be a fitted long sleeve and a pair of leggings. After you have your base, start to build by adding a chunky sweater or hoodie. Find a pair of jeans that can fit over your leggings for extra warmth. Some jeans also have a fleece lining on the inside, which helps in the cold. If you are still looking for more layers, add a trench coat, denim jacket, or cardigan.

Accessories are a huge part of an outfit. They can bring an outfit from basic to chic almost effortlessly. Start by adding a hat or headband. A beanie, felt hat, or a wool headband work nicely in the winter. A scarf can also dress up an outfit and also work as yet another layer in your outfit. If your outfit consists of neutrals and basics, add a printed scarf. Gloves are a must especially in snowy weather. Simple wool gloves are always easy, but there are other options as well. Leather is also warm and will not soak up water as easily. Once you have all of your accessories, throw on your fuzzy socks, and hey if you have room double up. If one pair of socks happen to get wet, you have a backup.

Winter is here, bring on the coats!

Life in Southern California is usually very, very warm. The sun is shining most of the year which many people adore. Don’t get me wrong it is lovely, but as the holidays approach I can’t help but miss the cold weather. Our 90 degree November days have come to an end, and we were lucky enough to get some rain. Finally winter is here! For some people that means staying in doors next to a warm fire, but for others it means its time for a good coat.

There are a ton of ways to style cool weather outfits. One important thing to remember is to make sure you’re dressed for the right weather! If its raining you might need a hood, or something water repellent. It may be snowing where you live, and a blazer just wont cut it. These are some of my go to coats for winter:

A good coat is definitely a winter essential. There are plenty of coats available that are stylish and still warm. A trench coat can be layered on top of thicker sweaters, or it can be layered over a simple tee. This is the Editor Check Trench Coat from Topshop. It sells for $160 on the Nordstrom website. It can be stressed up with a skirt and over the knee boots, or it can be worn with jeans and a pair of sneakers.

All three of these coats can be found at Nordstroms. They are perfect for layering, and they work for different weather and different styles. The denim jacket could be worn casually over jeans or leggings, and paired with basically any shoe. This Levi’s Ex Boyfriend Sherpa Lined Trucker Jacket is warmer than regular denim jackets. Sherpa is very warm and cozy, so it makes for the perfect winter jacket. The next jacket is made entirely of sherpa so it is great for really cold weather. A leather jacket is a staple in anyones closet because you can throw it on over a casual outfit and instantly look like it took hours to put together. Throw it over a dress and some tights for a cute night out look.

There are so many options for coats. Its easy to find one that fits your needs and your styles these days. Keep in mind that you can always layer! Try the coats with different accessories, like a beanie or felt hat. Dress up the outfits with heels or dress them down with sneakers, whatever fits your style.
